Meet the Dragonettes
Morvena's egg hatches in dramatic circumstances
''Suddenly an emerald flash of dragon shot out into the sky. Prometheus’s rainbow coloured underbelly that gave a Jewel Dragon its name shimmered and sparkled in the golden rays of sun. Then slowly Prometheus stretched out his great wings like two wonderful enormous silken fans and glided effortlessly across the sky.''
Book 1: First Flight
''Sitting in the middle of the cave floor, bright and alert, Excelsior was waiting for her. The silver dragon was more beautiful than she’d remembered him and much larger too: in that one week he must have doubled in size. The fiery brightness of Excelsior’s eyes was the only light in the cave, but they shone so brightly that around the dragon there was a small pool of brightness.''
Book 1: First Flight
Three voices replied in unison. ‘We are the Dragonettes, stars of stage and screen!’
‘Calliope! Melpomene! Terpsichore! Triplets born from one egg!’
‘And who?’ (Calliope)
‘May we ask?’(Melpomene)
‘Are you?’ (Terpsichore)
Book 3: The Silver Flame
Isaac’s hands were trembling as he lifted up the lid. There it lay in a pale blue flame.
‘I can’t believe this is the last time I’ll see the egg. I know every line and speckle on its shell. See that dark gold bit at the top. That’s been spreading and getting darker for the last month. And if I twist it to the right the dragon inside flips over to get comfy again.’ He gave a small laugh. ‘I love this egg you know, silly isn’t it?’
